Student Life

About Student Life

Student life at Dolores T. Richardson School is engaging, enriching, and designed to support the growth of the whole child. Beyond the academic day, students participate in meaningful programs that encourage creativity, critical thinking, physical wellness, leadership, and social-emotional development. Through a balance of academics, enrichment, and wellness, students are empowered to explore their interests and build confidence in a supportive school community

Academic Support (Tutoring)

Academic support and tutoring provide students with additional guidance to reinforce classroom learning, strengthen skills, and build confidence across subject areas.

STEAM Coding

Students engage in hands-on STEAM coding activities that promote problem-solving, logical thinking, and creativity. Through age-appropriate projects, students learn to collaborate, experiment, and develop foundational technology skills.

Chess

Our chess program helps students strengthen critical thinking, strategy, and patience while encouraging healthy competition and sportsmanship in a fun, engaging environment.

Music Appreciation

Through music appreciation, students explore rhythm, instruments, and musical styles while developing listening skills and an understanding of music as an expressive art form.

Athletics & Physical Wellness

Students stay active and build teamwork skills through physical activities such as Physical Education, basketball and swim lessons in partnership with Playa La Expo Center. These programs promote physical fitness, confidence, and lifelong healthy habits.

Mindful Meditation

Mindful meditation supports students’ social-emotional well-being by helping them develop focus, self-awareness, and positive coping strategies in a calm and supportive setting.

Youth Development & Leadership

In partnership with Brotherhood Crusade, our youth development program focuses on character building, leadership, teamwork, and positive decision-making, helping students grow into confident and responsible individuals.

At Dolores T. Richardson School, student life extends beyond the classroom to create well-rounded learners prepared to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
